Rev. John LaMar Tellis, Jr.

Rev. Tellis has served as the senior pastor of Solomon Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Denver, CO, since 2005. He was ordained by the National Baptist Convention, USA denomination. Rev. Tellis believes that God has a great work for His people in this season. He believes that the ultimate purpose for Kingdom building is to stay committed and focused on the Great Commandment and the Great Commission and subsequently a Great Kingdom will continue to be built. Solomon Temple received the Church of the Year award in 2012 from the Gospel Music Academy and Hall of Fame Academy because of his faithful activism and strong presence in the Denver Community and State of Colorado. 

Rev. Tellis has served as an officer in the church since 1990 as a teacher, deacon and an associate minister. He has partnered with a number of churches and schools to provide education and outreach services. He currently serves on the board of directors for both Hope House and American Pathways University. He is a member of the Pillars Project, treasurer of the Greater Denver Metro Ministerial Alliance and is a certified marriage educator. Rev. Tellis holds a doctorate degree in theological studies from Truth Bible College.

In 1995, Rev. Tellis founded Tellis Ministries, Inc., (TMI). TMI taps into the needs of hurting and wounded souls by planting hope into their lives. TMI also focuses on strengthening families and offering preventive methods to help deal with poverty and other socio-economic issues.

Rev. Dr. Tellis and his wife of forty-four years, Evangelist Dr. Mary Rhodes-Tellis have been blessed with three children, John III, DeNesha and Allan and are the grateful grandparents of four lovely granddaughters.

Rev. Mary Rhodes-Tellis

Rev. Tellis is an ordained minister in the American Baptist Churches and National Baptist Convention, USA denominations. A native of Louisiana, she is the founder of the life coaching ministry BeTrue2U. She is also the founder of Queen, a movement that inspires women from all walks of life to love, lift and liberate one another by providing them with coaching, mentoring, support, and scholarships. Formerly, she served as the Associate Executive Director at Open Door Ministries, Ministry and Mission Coach at American Baptist Churches of the Rocky Mountains, an educator with the Denver Public Schools, Operations Site Manager at Bayaud Enterprises, and currently serves the Executive Director at Restoration Outreach Programs in Aurora, Colorado.

Rev. Tellis has received numerous degrees from Louisiana Tech University, Truth Bible College and Denver Seminary.

A dynamic preacher and motivational speaker, Rev. Tellis has been invited to preach, conduct workshops, and facilitate leadership trainings throughout the U.S. and beyond. She has traveled as far as Africa, Israel, Thailand, France, and the Bahamas to share her passion and gifts through presentations. Rev. Tellis recently received the Excellence in Community service award from the Ministers Widows and Wives Association and the Excellence in Leadership award from the Gospel Music Academy and Hall of Fame Academy. Although she has received numerous commendations, Reverend Tellis is most proud of the ones she has received from the youth she has been privileged to serve and mentor.

Moreover, Rev. Tellis is primarily motivated by the Word of God and aligns her assignments with His will. She stands on the platform of “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” Ephesians 3:20

Rev. Mary Tellis is married to the humble Rev. John L. Tellis Jr., Pastor, Solomon Temple Missionary Baptist Church, Denver, Colorado. They are the grateful parents of three beautiful children and four blessed and favored granddaughters.

Solomon Temple Missionary Baptist Church welcomes with open hearts all of God’s children from every walk of life to a Holy Ghost driven church committed to the fulfilling of the Great Commission.

We support an atmosphere which will boldly teach and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and we live our lives as disciples of Jesus Christ according to the Word of God.

We will care for the poor, visit the sick, encourage and instruct all age groups to build personal relationships with Jesus Christ our Savior.

Finally, we desire to be active in the community in which God has placed this body of baptized believers.
